piano jitters

The annual piano do where they go on a proper stage, play on a grand piano and perform to an audience albeit one that comprises entirely of doting parents.

How is this year any different?

It’s fourth time for the girls but the first for Day (because he started with Mona later). Jo says her fingers are freezing and threatens to boycott the concert but I know she won't do that. Lu is surprisingly nonchalant, even choosing to forgo the rehearsal, no water-sipping or nausea. Day is completely cool even though he's the first-timer.

It’s also the first time I collaborate with Jo. I improvise and come up with a violin part to accompany the tango she is playing.

Why? One, I like tangos. Two, Jo was on the brink of quitting piano classes and I this was another of my attempts to get her to continue. (like, hey, playing with Mama is fun! Mama is supporting me!)

We did have fun, a lot of it.

I don’t know if it’ll keep her going at the piano, though. Sniff.

* Lu at 0:13 (Jazzy Joey), Day at 1:47 (No Worries), Jo & me at 2:55 (Vendetta). This is one complete long take (on KK's mobile) because the kids went consecutively
